Post Falls 2045: Planning Today for Tomorrow

Why a Comprehensive Plan?

Comprehensive plans shape a community’s future over time and in response to any growth that may come. At their best, they are a community roadmap for growing together in a way that maintains community values, enhances quality of life, provides opportunity, and ensures fiscal resilience. Comprehensive Plans are intimately tied to zoning and other development regulations that help to ensure that neighborhoods, parks, schools, and roads are planned with care and respect the community’s vision for the future.

A comprehensive planning process is a chance for Post Falls to dream big, share ideas, and build a hometown the community is proud to pass on to the next generation.

  • Can be used as an interagency negotiation tool.

  • Supports grant applications.

  • Serves as a budgetary tool, such as for capital facilities.

  • Provides consistent policy direction as it may apply to various elements (land use, transportation, economic development, etc.)
