Post Falls 2045: Planning Today for Tomorrow

What is the Process?

  • We start by reviewing the 2020 Comprehensive Plan and existing community data to help inform community conversations and planning priorities.

  • Planning is only as good as the community support behind it. This phase will run throughout the process and involve in-person engagement, online engagement, and several more public meetings with city decision makers.

  • Community input and analysis come together into a document to be vetted and refined by staff and community decision makers.

  • Once a draft of the plan is completed, further revisions and community input will be critical to make sure the plan is accurate and reflects community values.

  • The Planning Commission will vote on the final draft at a public hearing, making a recommendation to the City Council. While it is the Planning Commission’s duty to prepare the plan, the City Council must approve it.

  • The plan will provide a schedule of implementing actions that will be rolled out over time. These may include development code updates, subarea planning, budgeting for capital facilities, or other initiatives. A comprehensive plan should be a living document; updates may be necessary later as the future brings change.
